Interior insulation
Insulating your building from the inside has many advantages: thermal comfort, energy savings, noise reduction and improved living comfort. XLG specializes in various insulation techniques.
A well-insulated building is one that doesn't lose heat from a heating system, or overheat, thus consuming too much energy. Good insulation also enhances acoustic comfort by reducing external noise. A well-insulated building reduces energy requirements, which in turn means lower energy bills. In addition to this financial aspect, thermal regulations exist and apply to all buildings. Today, rent indexation is forbidden if the building is poorly insulated.
Installing a high-performance insulation system requires certain technical skills. XLG is qualified to ensure the thermal continuity of your building envelope and avoid thermal bridges.
As each building has its own specific features, different insulation techniques can be used.
Insulating walls
When it's not possible to insulate the walls of a building from the outside, internal insulation is the ideal alternative. It reduces heat loss from your building, resulting in substantial savings on your energy bill.
Various techniques can be used to insulate walls from the inside:
1. Insulation under wood or metal framing: This method involves fixing wood or metal studs to the wall, then covering the whole with roll insulation such as wood fiber, rock wool or glass wool. Plasterboard is then attached to this framework.
2. Plasterboard insulation : Plasterboard insulation boards, coated with a layer of polyurethane (PU or PIR) and wrapped in cardboard, are fixed directly to the wall surface. They provide additional insulation without the need for framing.
These interior insulation techniques offer an effective solution for improving your building's thermal performance. It is advisable to seek professional advice to determine which technique is best suited to your specific situation, and to ensure correct implementation.

Roof insulation
Insulating a roof from the inside allows you to insulate your roof without having to remove the tiles. An uninsulated roof represents up to 30% heat loss.
Insulating a roof from the inside offers a practical solution for improving your building's energy efficiency without having to remove the tiles. In fact, an uninsulated roof can result in up to 30% heat loss.
The traditional method involves installing rolls of insulation between the beams and rafters of the roof structure. These are held in place by a Metal Stud structure. An airtight membrane is then added before plasterboard or other finishes are applied. The most commonly used insulation materials are mineral wool (glass, rock) or plant-based (wood fiber, hemp, cellulose, etc.).
In the case of a perfectly straight frame, you can opt for plasterboard insulation boards with a cardboard coating and a bonded layer of polyurethane (PU or PIR) in various thicknesses. These products offer an excellent coefficient of thermal conductivity (lambda), which means they can achieve superior insulation with a reduced thickness, and therefore a higher thermal resistance index (R). However, they may have some limitations in terms of regulating overheating.
It's important to note that the choice of insulation materials and techniques will depend on your roof configuration, your specific energy efficiency needs and local regulations. XLG specializes in insulation work. Our expertise will ensure that your roof is optimally insulated.

Insulating lost attic space
Lost attics, often difficult to fit out due to insufficient height, represent the main points of heat loss in a building.
Insulating lost attic space improves thermal comfort all year round, reduces noise from outside and, above all, lowers a building's energy consumption.
If the attic is difficult to access, the most recommended method of insulation is to spray polyurethane (PU), cellulose, glass wool or rock wool.
On the other hand, if the attic is accessible, insulating the floor with panels or rolls can be a less costly solution.

Insulating the floor
Floor insulation offers an effective solution for considerably improving your thermal comfort and making significant energy savings.
There are several techniques for insulating the floor. Either underneath, by insulating the ceiling of the cellar or crawl space, or by insulating the floor of the crawl space, or over the floor.
Underfloor insulation is ideal for renovation projects, as it doesn't require demolition of the existing floor or adjustment of doors and baseboards. Insulation is provided by rigid panels, polyurethane foam or insulating rolls.
If access to your crawl space is complicated, one possible option is to partially insulate the floor by blowing in loose-fill insulation, although this technique is less effective than other methods because the first floor is not directly insulated.
If you don't have a basement, insulating the floor over it is necessary, but this involves demolishing the existing floor to install the insulation and new covering. If the floor is in good condition, you can install insulation and new flooring without demolition, but baseboards and doors will probably have to be raised.
Placement of high-performance chassis
Choose frames with a low U-value for better thermal insulation. The U-value measures the thermal conductivity of a material, and the lower the value, the better the insulation. Modern PVC or aluminum frames generally have low U coefficients, ensuring effective insulation. As for wooden frames, their performance depends on the type of wood used, the quality of manufacture, the age of the wood and the installation. High-quality wooden frames, properly installed and maintained, will provide excellent thermal insulation.
XLG specializes in renovation work and sash installation. We provide you with expert advice on your choice of materials, and carry out the work from A to Z.
How did XLG calculate its carbon footprint?
Numerous steps to reduce our impact on the environment.
In 2023, XLG reached a crucial milestone by completing its carbon footprint, providing a precise view of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions linked to its activities. This exhaustive assessment identified the main sources of emissions and provided an understanding of the environmental impact of its operations. Armed with this information, XLG is committed to developing avenues of reduction, actively exploring strategies to reduce its GHG emissions. In line with this approach, XLG is adopting more sustainable practices, seeking energy-efficient solutions and exploring carbon offsetting measures to achieve its reduction targets. This initiative demonstrates XLG's commitment to responsible management of its carbon footprint, with the identification and implementation of targeted reduction actions. In this way, XLG is actively working to minimize its impact on the climate, contributing to the preservation of the environment and the fight against climate change.
How does XLG assess the well-being of its employees at work?
Employee satisfaction is our top priority.
In 2023, XLG implemented a series of initiatives to improve well-being at work. Daily and annual monitoring of employee satisfaction and commitment has enabled internal policies to be adjusted. Sports classes are offered in certain hubs to promote physical health, while team-building activities have strengthened team cohesion. A Family Day at Walibi with all B2B employees and their families was also organized to recognize the importance of family support and enable employees to enjoy time with their families. All these actions demonstrate XLG's commitment to a fulfilling professional environment, fostering team satisfaction and collaboration. What's more, thanks to the E Bloom platform, XLG regularly sends satisfaction assessments to its employees. This technological tool provides management with a daily overview of employee well-being.
How did XLG start its ESG strategy?
A company-wide approach initiated by a cross-functional steering committee.
Focusing on the pillars of the organization, employee relations, environmental protection and customer and partner satisfaction, this initiative was launched at the beginning of 2023. We first assembled a pilot team from among our employees and selected ambassadors to lead our various projects. We decided to apply a strong principle: to focus on achievable company-wide objectives.
